Banana, Birthday, and Baby

Alright first off I just want to say I took everyone's advice and went to Banana Republic in search of pants. Not only did they have fantastical pants, they were all on sale. I purchased four pairs of super nice pants for around 80 bucks. Now I feel confident going to work every morning all semi business professional- even if that one girl DOES wear sweatpants sometimes. We also went to the Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale-- it was absolutely chaotic. People were pushing and yelling things like, "hey you, sales associate, cmere!" There were some great sales though..

Secondly, I had a birthday last week. Now, usually I call July "My Birthday Month" when speaking casually about dates or events during the entire month. That way, after dinner I could say, "Hey Jazz, could you clean up the dishes? After all, its my birthday month." My family knows I attempt to use this whenever possible.

However...since we are now married I have to share my birthday month with my husband. If you know me at all you know this is a great sacrifice for me- it must be true love if I am willing to share my Birthday Month festivities. His birthday is the 31st, which is basically August anyway.

On my birthday, Morgan surprised me at work with an adorable cake for me to share with my new coworkers. Morgan's cakes are so good- everyone gushed over how tasty it was...how does she do it..that sort of thing. It was awesome. She also made me a regular cake for at home and we ate that after dinner that night. She also made Jazz a NASCAR cake since his birthday was coming up, and she was going to miss it because she is now in California. (if you are keeping tabs, that is three cakes.)

I think I OD'ed on cake...I was eating it for like five meals a day. That can't be healthy.

Also, big news- Britta had Baby Adalie! Last Saturday she was born around 5 pm, and we got to see her at about seven. She is absolutely beautiful- mom and baby are doing well. In fact, I kind of hate Britta for looking so fantastic after giving birth to a baby. Its one of those times you are just supposed to look a tad....gross. But she looks awesome. We have been over to the house a few times to bring food and hang out. I am now known as a "Baby Hog" but I don't really care.

I told Jazz to grab the car seat and run... but we didn't get very far.

P.S. Shark Week is on this week on the Discovery Channel. Do you think I could call in sick for five consecutive days?

Seriously?

Many of you know: I enjoy shopping. I like bargain hunting. I like picking through endless racks of clothes. I love the adrenaline rush of an awesome find. Since I started this new job I have realized that my closet is severely lacking in the "semi-professional" career wear section. I do own a great pair of black pants- I have an awesome pair of grey slacks, but they are about 12 inches to long..and I haven't owned khakis since the GAP outlet had a sale in '96. And so, my pant-seeking adventure began.

I started at Old Navy. Generic- yes I am aware. But they do have good staples once in a while. I hit up TJ MAXX, and then finished with the Supreme Nordstrom's Rack. Let me tell you- I was EXTREMELY disappointed. This is what I found:

Ugly, right? Now don't be fooled- they can look a tiny bit attractive on a model or on a mannequin. This does not apply to ANYONE else seeking pants. I could not find normal pants anywhere! Am I missing something? Is it suddenly in style to have ginormous hippo legs? What am I supposed to wear to work tomorrow? When is this going to be out of fashion so I can attempt shopping again? And what MAN came up with this? (cmon. you know it was a dude.)

I surrender. I guess its black pants tomorrow...again...

Mind Explosion

There are so many things I wanted to update about. And I feel as if my blogging skills are inadequate.

1. I am obsessed with our apartment. I love it. Its adorable. Pictures to follow.

2. I started my new job yesterday. Officially, I work for the Go-Travel Sites which basically consists of one main website with 50 smaller websites, one for every state. They also run Houseboating.org which is a website that books house boating vacations all over the United States. My job will consist of booking these houseboat vacations- a lot are for Lake Powell here in Utah. Surprisingly, Lake Shasta (right by my hometown) is in their top three most popular lakes. This is my first grown up 8-5 job- I am already struggling with the whole early morning thing. Everyone has been super friendly and I am excited.

3. In our post wedding organization and shopping spree, I have found some things that are just so totally awesome that you all need to know about. The first one is this line of tupperware. Its called Snap and Lock or something like that. They are watertight, dishwasher safe, and make a really great popping sound when you shut them. The lids are interchangeable so you don't have to hunt for the exact one size in the lid drawer. (Maybe you don't have a lid drawer. but you definitely should.) I love them and use them for everything.

4. Britta is going to have her baby soon! I am so excited I wanna barf. I can't wait to meet this tiny little person. She thinks it will be any day now and every time my phone rings I get excited.

5. Living with Jazz is so awesome. Its like living with my best friend all the time. He has been so conscious of my obsessive cleaning compulsion-- he is so tidy! He has helped organize and shop and hang stuff up and everything. Before I started working, I had a lot of time to make dinner and play housewife. I loved having the table all ready for Jazz when he got home from work- Here is our lil Sunday dinner...

Wedding Update: Part Two

Don't ask me why I am awake so early on Saturday morning. Maybe its because we have all four Jaws movies Tivo'ed and I want to get a head start- I don't know. I may as well update though!

So after our perfect heavenly wedding, Jazz and I flew to Cancun. We were both super excited to go to Mexico- neither of us had been before. We got up early and had some breakfast with Jazz's family before Bobbie took us to the airport. After a loong flight, we arrived in Cancun and got to our hotel. We were both totally shocked at how totally awesome our stay was! Everyone was so nice to us- they knew we were honeymooners because of our pink bracelets we had to wear. The resort was so beautiful- it had like five pools, four restaurants, swim up snack bars, air conditioning, and a great little beach. We had so much fun just relaxing poolside and getting some sun. Jazz went through a can and a half of spray on sunscreen. It was awesome.

The last day before we had to leave, we went on this tour to Chichen Itza. That was like the one thing we both wanted to see while we were in Mexico, and it was included in our stay at the resort. Our tour guide was pretty entertaining. By the end of the day I learned that Mayans invented keeping time, all forms of math, road building, the wheel, sports, religion, painting, astronomy, and airplanes. Riiiiiight. It was such a cool heritage site though- way bigger than I had anticipated. Although, I have never ever been that hot in my whole life. It was like a zillion percent humidity, and everyone was just sweating. Grown women just started taking off their shirts to be cooler. We bought some awesome treasures to bring back home as souvenirs. Both Jazz and I were a tiny bit sick at this point- I later found out its pretty much unavoidable when you go to Mexico. As sick as I was, I would totally go back and do it again. We both had so much fun and it was a perfect honeymoon!

After five days of total relaxation, we flew to Redding for our second reception. My fam had transformed the lobby of my dad's office- they set up tables and chairs and everything. It looked awesome! I really enjoyed this reception because I knew everyone and it was pretty laid back and enjoyable. I wasn't sure I would be able to zip my dress up because of all the food I chowed down on in Mexico, but with some help I got all dressed up again. It was a little bittersweet at the end of the night- I didn't want it to be over! I didn't want to take off my dress because I never get to wear it again.

We stayed in Redding for a couple more days- our niece Madilyn was blessed in church on Sunday and I'm glad we got to attend. She is so dang cute! It was great to spend some time with my family before driving back out to Utah to settle in to married life. This is me and Jazzy right before we drove a giant U-Haul full of crap across Nevada. That was a fun day. Nothing like driving 700 miles at 65 mph!

Wedding Update: Part One

So I have a confession. I have kind of been procrastinating updating the blog because I have so much fun stuff to talk about. How do I summarize the best three weeks ever!? I'm gonna break it down and talk about the actual wedding first.

The day of the wedding was absolutely perfect. I could not have asked for a more beautiful day. We had to coordinate arriving at Noah's so that Jazz and I wouldn't run into each other. The ceremony was short and sweet- it all just went by so quickly! Walking down the aisle with my dad was a special moment. I felt so shiny and happy- I was totally happy with my dress and hair, everything came together just perfectly. I will never forget seeing Jazz's face as I came outside and walked towards him. No kind of distraction could have interrupted that eye contact! The bishop said some really nice things, and before I knew it we were exchanging rings and being introduced as Mr. and Mrs. Sorensen!

The reception was lovely. The food was delicious, the decor was really nice, and it was awesome to see all of our family and friends who came to support us. The cake that Morgan made was freaking so tasty- it was so so good. I wanted to eat all of it. One of my favorite moments of the night was dancing with my dad. The song was perfect for us- and I know I will cherish that dance forever. I really loved introducing everyone to Jazz and it was really nice to meet his friends and family.

As things were winding down, I just couldn't believe how fast the day had come and gone. I was so tired from the whole day I could barely stand up. Jazz helped me into the car and we drove away! As we got about fifteen minutes towards Salt Lake, Jazz said, "I'm really impressed Mic, you packed so light!" Thinking in my mind about the giant suitcase I had loaded into my car that morning I replied, "um...no I didn't. We are missing my suitcase." We laughed and turned around and went back to pick up all my stuff.

And now- I have a husband! How weird is that? Sometimes I still say "boyfriend" accidentally, and I have to correct myself. I wouldn't change anything about our wedding day, I think it was perfect!
