insta-update vol. 23

This week is kicking me right in the face. Right. In. The. Face. I'm being pulled in a million different directions and I'm just barely keeping my head above water. Just gotta finish strong through Saturday (then Monday? then Thursday?) and then I'll be good to go. (right?) Also, I made chicken and dumplings tonight for the first time ever and I don't think I'll stop talking about them until 2016. They were that good. So, there's that.

Here's a picture update because I am too lazy/tired to post something with better content. I'll throw in some commentary for good measure.

this is such an Izzie face.

crazy cute/ nothin to see here

Isabelle's first talk in primary. How have I not posted about this? I almost diedddddd it was so cute, her little words and look she is on her tippy toes. She talked about how she broke her arm and then she said prayers that it would get better. I was a little nervous she would get up there and get shy but we practiced at home and she did great. Jazz videoed it because we are basically sacrilegious and it is my favorite footage ever. She is so proud of herself at the end, it's the best.

ballet year two/ all his animals.

"like fiona in shrek"/ baby chopin

just cleaning up/ last lake day

airplane!

she seriously slept like that/ loves me to scratch his head

good day for a tailgate picnic

Okay so a few weeks ago Lincoln crawled out of his crib and landed ON HIS FACE. I opened the door and he was just standing there like whaaaaaat just happened. His nose was so swollen and purple I thought for sure it was broken. I'm pretty sure it was an accident because he hasn't tried to do it again, which is great considering I am 100% not ready for him to be in a toddler bed. Life = over.

Also that picture of my dad and Isabelle? My favorite. Hmm where is Isabelle's hat...

costco carts. enough said. / this kid is trouble (his legs!)

early am at the provo temple/ those chicken and dumplings that stole my heart and stomach.

If I never post again it's because this week has killed me.

visiting baby quinn

I spent a long weekend in Utah last week- visiting my sister and baby quinn and also eating lots of food. It's really not fair that we live in a town with below average restaurants. So naturally when we visit places with delicious food, I gain twelve pounds. Snuggling a newborn and enjoying delicious meals? ALWAYS A WIN.

I took my nikon and literally took 6 pictures with it. Totally worth the weight in my luggage. Damn you, iphone for being so handy. I've been so excited for this trip and it was SO NICE to just sit with Sabrina and hold her baby and talk about mom stuff without worrying about my own kids running amok. We really had no schedule or agenda (except eat. so, nailed that one.) Sabrina is like a seasoned pro already- getting out of the house and actually putting clothes on! At this point after my babies, I was still wearing maternity yoga pants and Jazz's t shirts and living in my recliner. Sabs is doing so great, and Quinn is a really good baby. Plus she smells good. I forgot how small they are.... makes Lincoln look heeee-yuge.

A little pre flight meal with my bestie.

We meet! Yessss. She is so soft.

slurp in american fork. worth it.

dinner with our cousins and their babies

I will sayyy..... it was hard to be away from my own babies! Felt like I was missing a limb or something. On the airplane I was like ummmmmm what do I do with myself. Read! Yes, read, grown ups read, I shall do that. We face timed a lot and Jazz was really good about sending me pictures and updates. He did great though without me- took the kids to the store and got ice cream and even spent some time watching airplanes land at the airport. The best part was seeing their little faces when I came home. Lincoln was SO happy he just sat on my lap and climbed all over me until bed time. Isabelle wanted to tell me every detail of the weekend and pre school and being at gwammas house and show me her dollar store treasures. Man, I love those babies of mine.

Thanks sabs for being such a great hostess and sharing your lil babe with me!

happy birthday to leighdle

Today is my best friend's birthday.

She is my oldest and dearest friend. This is a little tribute to her because I'm so thankful for her.

We were friends in high school, though she was in my brothers' grade. She used to come over for Calculus study groups... somehow after graduation we started hanging out more? I can't really remember how it began, but  I started visiting her down in Sacramento when she attended college... and she visited me at BYU many times. She's been around for all my important things... girls nights, graduations, weddings, baby blessings, birthdays.

She answers the phone in the night if I need her. She sends my kids care packages. She drives up to Redding for parties and events, just for a few days. She watches my kids outside the temple so we can go in for weddings. She always remembers my birthday. We've laughed ourselves silly way too late into the night. We are not food buddies but we tend to like the same treats. We both like to clean, and we both like to wear soft jammies. She is like family to me. There is always room at my house for her.

We like to make up middle names. Leigh Ellen Sue LaFoo Renard, the first.

Here are some glorious pictures through the years... some not so good. (Seriously, my hair?) And I know for every one of these, Leigh has ten more 'priceless' ones from our early years. Also you may notice a mexican in many pictures.. that's mexi, I met her through Leigh and we have the same birthday. Naturally we've become good friends as well.

I really hope everyone has a friend like Leigh.
Look at this gem. (The cute girl next to me is my sister in law now! hey JaNae! but she did not marry the brother in the picture) San Francisco 2000
