Jazz to the Rescue
Jazz came home to this:
I have been advised from a few different sources not to post this picture because this is, by far, THE WORST PICTURE OF ME EVER TAKEN. I realize that. I know I look like I have just fallen out of a 40-foot tree into a pond full of crocodiles and lived to tell the tale. I see the bags and puffiness, the exasperated ponytail. I am aware.
I am posting this because I have the coolest husband on the planet. He still likes me when I look like this! Even loves me! He will even sit by me in bed while I whine and tear at my own eyeballs! He will even scratch my back for hours upon end until I finally fall asleep! These are the qualities you want in a husband. Those, along with Taking Garbage Out and Snow Shoveling.
Friday the headache was downgraded from a hurricane to local tropical storm. The Red Cross contacted me, and the Relief Society sent 100 blankets. Don't worry, all is well again.

9/16/09
I probably haven't noticed because all we have been doing is PLAYING THE WII FIT. Semi-working, semi-sleeping, semi-cooking dinner. Mostly beating each others records.
Last night I was feeling dejected by a poor score at one of the balance games. I stepped back on the board to try again- my head down, shoulders sad, and Jazz said:
"C'mon, don't be so frumpy!"
Thanks honey. I'll try.

Wii are getting Fit

So...I hate exercising. I dislike getting all sweaty, I hate being out of breath, I refuse to go to a gym where people can stare at my chubby bootie while I am busy trying to keep my legs coordinated on the elliptical machine. Running isn't even an option. I think this is why I really enjoyed the diet I did last winter.
Basically I ate 120 grams of protein a day- I survived solely on eggs, turkey bacon, salad, apples, chicken, beef and shrimp. I lost about 30 pounds in two months without exercising once. It was awesome.
The more weight I lost, the harder it was to continue losing weight. I started working out more regularly, and really liked the benefits of exercising. Of course, now and again I would fall off the band wagon and eat like, an entire batch of rice krispy treats by myself. (See here) By the day of our wedding, I had lost just over 50 pounds and I was very proud of myself.I am so glad I can look at our wedding photos and not cringe at being a big ol' blimp. Since then, I have been really carefree about eating and basically just ate whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. I usually gain weight by just looking at carbs, so it was no surprised when I realized I had put on five (ok ten.) pounds
Now that I am working full time and taking care of an apartment and a husband, I just don't have the time needed to properly execute this very detailed carb-free diet. Plus I am really, really sick of eggs.
We have been trying to exercise more regularly and eat healthy meals, but it hasn't been very fun....until now. Due to our top-secret connections, we finally got our hands on a Wii Fit. Let me just say- this is the best thing ever. Nothing is as entertaining as watching Jazz hula-hoop for 3 minutes or see him balance on one leg while doing a crazy yoga pose. He holds the records in most of the ski events, while I am top dog at soccer and the penguin balance. We constantly go back and forth beating each other's records- its so much fun that we don't even realize we are burning calories. The system keeps track of your minutes exercised, weight and BMI among other things. Its a really motivating and fun way to get our exercise in everyday. Consider this an endorsement for the Wii Fit.
As mentioned in a previous blog, we are going to Disneyland for Oktoberfest 2008 with some of my family members, and I am trying to get down to three pounds less than my wedding weight before we go. I'm gonna try to post my progress every now and again to keep myself motivated to stay on track (or on the soccer field, or the ski slopes, or the boxing ring, whatever.)

Mom + Utah = fun.
Here is our little guest room all made up. We ran around all crazy on Saturday to get the last minute necessities for the room. We also finally hung up some stuff up around the apartment- Jazz is now a master at centering/hammering/securing objects on the wall.
The Sumsion (and now Sorensen!) girls are silly sometimes..
On Monday, since it was a holiday, none of us had to go to work. We went to Taipan- which was so so so much fun. Its hard not to want everything in the store..it makes me feel so creative.
Tuesday night after work Mom made us dinner and we went up to Snowbird. I've never been up there, and its really close to our house... Mom loves the mountains, wanted to breathe the air, etc. We got up there and it was all chilly and fun- we bought tram tickets so we could go to the top of the mountain. Ok so follow me here- we have the tickets in hand, we are trying to find where we go to get ON the tram...we find the tram...and it leaves without us. There was NO one on the tram..they didn't even turn around to see if anyone was in line. And of course, it was the last one of the night. It was very, very, very sad. After we got our money back from our non-tram ride, we just walked around, found that scary gingerbread thing, and came home.
Doesn't Jazz look so cute and snuggly in his hoodie!? I know, right!
Before Mom left she cleaned up our whole apartment- did some laundry, washed her sheets and towels- she even swept our front porch. She is the best- we had so much fun having sleepovers with her. She even had a glow in the dark pajama shirt. Cmon, whose Mom is cooler than that??
