chit chat with Linc.

Two adorable conversations Lincoln had this week that I want to remember and needed to write down. 5 1/2 is just such a great age. He has the BEST questions and I never know when these convos are going to happen!

Riding home from Ryder's house, headed home for a playdate. Overheard in the car. Boys were talking about their school and their siblings and Linc says something like "yeah we have FOUR boys in our family."

Ryder: "Four? (clearly trying to count heads)
Linc: "Remeberrrrrr? Maxwell? We had a little baby in mom's tummy and there was something in his heart that wasn't working very good so he had to go back up to heaven."
Ryder: "Oh. and get fixed up?"
Linc: "No no no, he will be there forever now, he's all done.
Ryder, without missing a beat: "So you will see him when you go up to heaven!"
Linc: "Yep! Did you know that when you die, they take you to a park and they bury you in the ground? And they put your heart in a box. It's true, Jesus Christ did it."
Ryder: "yeah I know!!"

I was dying in the front seat. Kids are SO cute and precious and Linc did a great job explaining Max.

Driving to soccer tonight. Just me and Linc.

Linc: "Mom when we die do we get to come back to life?
Me: "Like come back to earth again? Or what? We will go up to heaven."
Linc: "What does heaven look like?"
Me: "It will be beautiful! I don't know exactly but I bet it will be really great."
Linc: "So we get to live again?"
Me: "well, yeah, when Jesus comes again we will all be resurrected."
Linc: "What does that mean."

Me: "It means that our bodies and our spirits will come together again. You know when you die your body stays here and your spirit goes up to heaven? Well when we are resurrected we are made whole again and everyone will feel really good."

Linc: "Oh so Isabelle won't have owwies on her arm."
Me: "Right. No owwies. Everyone will be healed."
Linc: "Wait, will I be a baby?"
Me: "No you'll be more grown up."
Linc: "Like a teenager?"
Me: "Maybe!"
Linc: "What about Grandpa. Will he be all wrinkly."
Me: (dying laughing inside) No I don't think Grandpa will be all wrinkly. Just regular.
Linc: Well he has some wrinkles. I like them. I think they look cool."
Me: "Yeah he's great. We will all get to be together in heaven. Unless we make bad choices."
Linc: "Then what happens?"
Me: "Welllllll then we have to go to a bad place where naughty people go." It's called Hell.
Linc: "Ohhh. right. when you punch people a bunch."
Me: "No you have to make REALLY bad choices and then not be sorry and repent. You can't come to heaven and be with all your friends and family."
Linc: *thinking*..... "well unless your friends are in hell too."
Me: LOL oh man "yeah that's true but I don't think you'll be able to party together."
Linc: "well just don't tell Satan who your friends are. Maybe you would be locked up together."
Me: "yeah I think Satan will know. I think it would be best to just avoid hell all together."
Linc: "Okay that sounds good."

Back to School

School is back in session!

Last Wednesday, we sent Isabelle off to second grade and Lincoln off to kindergarten. I was nursing Thatcher on the couch at 5 am and Lincoln came out fully dressed ready to go! Bless his little excited heart.

I've been teasing Lincoln for months that I might just keep him home forever with me but he told me no he HAD to go to school. We absolutely love his teacher- Isabelle had her as well and we spent some time in her classroom doing weekly music and so Linc thinks he owns the place. Actually he was so confident he didn't even want me to take him- Dad took both kids and dropped them off on the first day.

MAJOR MIXED FEELINGS. Linc has been my sidekick for five years. For the last three years Isabelle has been in school and we've done all sorts of fun things together. I poured alllllll of my energy into him after Max was born and we went everywhere together! So yeah I was a tiny bit sad to send him off but really proud of him- he is totally ready for school and so far seems to be adjusting great. Homework comes home tomorrow so we will see how that goes.

Isabelle has a great teacher and a class with several of her friends. And actually her cousin Jake is in the same class now! It's really fun- we've got six Sumsion grandkids at the same school from TK to fourth grade.

I WILL SAY.

Having just Thatcher home is really nice. I get a little bit of time during his morning nap to exercise and shower or do whatever I need to do for the day... I sort of forgot what that feels like! You would think I have alllll this time to do whatever I want to but really it's busy few hours until I'm fighting for a parking spot to pick up the kids. I do love the schedule that comes with school (minus getting up at 6:15 everyday.)

Isabelle is so particular about her outfits and her hair, she has to set everything out and plan it in advance. Linc wants to be comfortable, he doesn't really care. Right now we are just dealing with HOT weather, like 110 this week, they want to be as cool as possible.

Linc had hot lunch the first Friday because it was pizza and he loves pizza. They served a fruit and some sort of zucchini cake which he really liked. He loved it so much, he went back up to the window and asked for another piece! Oh that made me smile and also broke my heart a little bit because I know they couldn't give him one and I'm sure he just thought hey if I go up there, they will give me more! I can see his little freckled face be disappointed and I CAN NOT HANDLE THAT. Ugh. I want to simultaneously see him succeed and be independent but also be there to protect his little tender heart. How do people let their kids leave home. Honestly, I'm asking. How do I exist as a person without them around all the time. When you figure that out, lemme know.

Anyway. It's a nice change from summer to be back in school. Now, if the fall weather would show up that would be stellar. I'm so tired of my summer clothes I could barf.

the sweetest girl ever. shes so smart and funny.

their classes are reading buddies! How cute is that!
also please note Lincoln's shark tooth necklace, it was very important.

Thatcher James- 11 months

One month away from his first birthday! Can't even believe it.

Thatcher at 11 months- almost 18 pounds, wearing size 9-12 month clothing, size four diapers, EIGHT TEETH AND THEN ALSO TWO MOLARS. Two molars! He was soooo fussy for two days and I could not figure it out. And then Jazz felt for molars. Two shark teeth back there. Sheesh! 95% for head circumference, 75% for length (18.5 inches) and 25% for weight.

Thatcher is BIZZAY. He wants to be where all the other kids are, he hates being blocked out of a play zone. His greatest ambition in life is to play with the toilet. Crawling everywhere, pulling to a stand, walking holding on to literally anything. I just keep waiting for him to let go and take off. I'm not ready for that part! He says mamamamama and dada and does this cute giggle thing when he's excited about something. He watches Isabelle and Linc constantly and thinks physical comedy is hilarious. He also loves watching the dog run around.

Eating all the food. He loves sweet potato chunks, any fruit, soft carrots, yogurt. Pretty much anything green ends up on the couch. Refuses eggs unless they have ketchup on them. Will take a cracker anytime. Thatch still doesn't loooove the car. We went on a weekend trip that ended up being quite a bit of driving and he did pretty well but when he was sick of it he sure let us know. I hand him a toy and he throws it on the ground- repeat over and over until we are there.

Thatcher naps twice a day, morning and afternoon, though we are juggling pick ups and after school activities and sometimes he falls asleep in the car and his transfer rate is about zero percent. Hashtag, third kid. He is still nursing, we are really close to that year mark and that's great. I love nursing, but I don't lose weight while I'm nursing, and it would sure be nice to shed this pregnancy figure I've got goin on. He doesn't take a bottle though and is iffy with a straw so I'm not sure how this will all go. For now I'm just enjoying the time during the day (and night) I get to sit down with him and just hang out. He isn't my worst sleeper (Isabelle.) but he isn't my best, either. (Lincoln.) Up a couple times a night, sometimes he is up at 5:30 for the day... just isn't consistent at this point.

Thatcher is just pure happiness. He's happy, he makes us happy, he is smiley and fluffy and cute. He is just my little pal. He lights up when Jazz gets home from work, which is really adorable. I want to remember how he crawls around all quickly and squeals when he realizes I am chasing him. I want to remember that he sleeps best on his tummy with his bum in the air. I want to remember how his little eyelids fight to stay awake when he is nursing before nap, his body all relaxed and spread across my lap. I wish I could make physical memories, like freeze them and be able to replay them over. I love this baby so much I LOVE HIM SO MUCH I can't believe it.

couldn't even make it off the changing pad.

Thatcher loves Bitzer and Bitzer loves Thatcher's food.

at least it's something.

I'm determined not to let this blog die! It will live forever! Eternal Blogdom!

Lol. These are getting few and far between but something is better than nothing. Here's whats up.

1. School started. Yay and sad. More to come on that.

2. Thatcher is 11 months! Yay and also sad! More to come on that.

3. Took a mini weekend trip to the coast. ONLY YAY HERE. So fun oh man, more to come on that.

4. We had so much fun cousin time this summer! Some even moved here! More to come on that. I've got to catch up on posts summer. It went so quickly. Swim team and bronchitis and a baby on a nap schedule and enough trips to target to keep that bullseye lit up for awhile.

5. Thatcher is awake now so if I keep blogging in four minute intervals, I should have a real post ready by end of August. Eye roll emoji.

Here's a picture so you aren't bored.
