The best part of this is that we didn't even know she knew the words to this song until she started belting them out in the backseat of the car. She has secretly been learning songs and not telling us! She knows a whole bunch! Whaaat!

for a sunbeam.
I'm working on a post about an Isabelle update cause she's still my main squeeze but I could not wait to post this. Look at me posting videos right and left.. so unlike me.

a name and a blessing
On Sunday March 4th, Lincoln was given a name and a blessing in church. We were so thankful to our family for coming to celebrate with us on such a special day. I'm not going to lie... we nearly missed it- despite my best OCD planning skills, we were late. All was well until 10:40, I had just finished nursing him and all we had to do was get me dressed and get him dressed and loaded into the car. Well, I got my dress on and Jazz was zipping me up and it the zipper broke. Like, broke broke. I had even tried it on the night before to make sure everything was working and it fit and there were no problems. So.. I couldn't get the dress on all the way, but I couldn't get the zipper down enough to get the stupid dress off.
I'm trying to dress Lincoln in his little outfit while Jazz is working on my zipper, meanwhile Isabelle is SOBBING hanging off of the fridge handle because all she wants in the whole world is juice and we are evil parents. I'm tearing through the house because I can not find his tiny white knee high socks and regular socks will just not work and I literally could not find them anywhere. I'm a tornado of destruction. Lincoln was screaming because I couldn't get his head in that tiny hole because there were straight pins (!!) in his outfit that needed to be removed and I just turned around to Jazz and started crying. Hello, hormones.
Basically he had to SHAKE me out of it and say woman knock it off let's do this thing. We never fixed my dress, in fact it was only half on for the entire morning. Thankfully my sweater covered the part of the zipper that was broken but also I felt a little....loose. The socks were never found either and I CRIED about that because every mom wants tiny knee socks on their baby dressed in white being blessed. So dumb.
That night I found his knee highs in a box in the garage. OF COURSE RIGHT WHERE I LEFT THEM. Curse word curse word curse word. So later I dressed him up again so I could take pictures of how cuuuute he looks in his complete outfit without the pressure of being late or having a broken dress or dealing with a toddler throwing a fit.

Linc was super well behaved and didn't cry the entire time. Well done.
I lurve his little suit with the Peter Pan collar, so so cute. Morgan and company made a DELICIOUS brunch for us after church including stuffed mushrooms and chocolate covered strawberries and cupcakes and salad and potatoes and all kinds of goodies. Girl can COOK.
Mo cut all these things out. Cause she is awesome.

Lincoln at 2 months
I swear I'm going to make this thing private as soon as I have time to sit down and manually type in every one's email addresses. Can't we just give everyone a password or something? Seems silly.
Lincoln is 2 months old now. He doesn't have his official doctor's visit for another week because I am a slacker and forgot to make the appointment and they are closed next week so whatever. Sunday we weighed him at my parents' house and he was a whopping 11 pounds 4 ounces with his clothes on but still! Can you believe it?! That is two whole pounds bigger than Isabelle was at the same time. Good boy little Lincoln.
He is starting to be awake more and has a great schedule going. He eats, hangs out for awhile, then passes out. We call him the King of Catnaps because during the day you will think he is out cold and go to put him down and then he is like wassssup I'm awake! He eats every 3 hours during the day starting at about 7:30, and has his last meal at 8:30 pm and then not again UNTIL 3 AM. So If I can get him to sleep by 10:00, I get in bed by 10:02, and I get a good solid five hours of sleep. That chunk of sleep makes such a difference, I still feel human in the morning vs like a rousing hibernating bear.
He is wearing size two diapers, and we skipped size ones mostly because he was wetting through them pretty much all the time. Did anyone else have that problem? Boy babys wetting through diapers? At night he still has a hard time despite me changing before/after feeding.. Sometimes I put a second diaper on him just to be safe and that usually helps. (Not my wallet though) He is out of his newbie clothes and into 0-3, although some of them are getting small already! I can't believe it. Also, I can't seem to keep track of his socks. Sometimes he wears two different ones and I don't care because it's all I can find. Whatever, he's a baby and his feet are warm.
Most of what I want to remember of baby Lincoln at this time is how good he is. He is SUCH a good baby. No offense Isabelle but your brother really puts you to shame in this category. He is calm and sweet and sometimes he falls asleep without me tricking him into it. He likes to be swaddled all tight for night time sleeping, and I just rock him for a few minutes and he is out. He is a terrific eater (Sorry Isabelle, he wins this one too) and it has made for the postpartum period so much easier without the stress of worrying if he is getting enough/having backup bottles/supplementing/pumping.
And he is so smiley. Smiles for anyone. Big gummy happy baby smile. He is starting to giggle too which is hilarious. Its like a little man-chuckle. Totally ticklish right under his chin. Oh I love him.

a shower for mo
I have a bunch-o-stuff to catch up on including Lincoln's blessing day and also how he is all of the sudden two(!) months old but I thought I'd start with Morgan's shower.
Mo decided last minute to come out to be here for the baby's blessing so we decided last-last minute to throw her a little shower for new Baby Girl Williams coming in June. Morgan's doing purple in the baby nursery so we went with that..luckily I saved some stuff from Isabelle's second birthday party. That, combined with my mothers ability to pull a party out of a hat, made for a fun afternoon.
We kept it pretty low key- except for the food. We always tend to go overboard on the food. We had delicious chicken salads and homemade rolls and cheesecake and omg the strawberries. I ate like twelve. Morgan opened all of her gifts and everyone was really sweet and thoughtful. We've known most of these ladies since we moved into the area 20 years ago so they've all seen Mo grow up. Now she's gonna be a mama! yay!

She doesn't even look pregnant. Hate her.
Mound of pink vomit.
That's Theodore, Morgan's dog. Isabelle was obsessed.
Also, this was too cute not to share. Madilyn wants to hold him every time we are together.

surprises in the night
Welp. Izzie can't be perfectly sweet all the time.
For about the last week or so, Isabelle has decided to get out of bed whenever she feels like it. 11 pm, 3 am, 6 am, it doesn't really matter... she doesn't discriminate. Remember we have her in a twin bed with a rail on it so she can't fall out if she rolls around. For 6 weeks after we transitioned her she had no idea she could actually get out of bed on her own which was DELIGHTFUL.
Now, I'm not sure what the deal is. We do the whole song and dance bedtime routine...extra drink, read stories, sing songs, plug in the humidifier, make sure all of her four hundred dolls and stuffed animals are tucked in... 5 minutes later she pops her head out to say hello. Not okay, kid. THEN just for fun, if she hears me up in the night with Lincoln she's like hey wheres the party and why was I not invited. I'm surprised actually, because we are really quiet most of the time and it's not like I turn on a bunch of lights. She parades herself out with Olivia and sits in her chair like it's time to get up which it is CLEARLY not. If I'm not already awake, she comes into my bedroom and throws Leilani on my face. She doesn't say anything, shes like a stealthy ninja just waiting to scare me to death. We take her back in to her room and try to explain that it isn't time to get up, the sun is still nite nite etc. Didn't really do much. Up for hours.
So, mom suggested we put up a baby gate in her doorway. That way, if she needed us for something important, she could open her door and holler at us, but she couldn't wander around on her own. It worked beautifully for about two nights. Gate went up, she understood she couldn't get out of bed, and voila. Peaceful sleep.
Then she started to get up (at all hours) and holler at us until we came to see what she needed. I mean, HOLLER. MAMAAAAA. MAMAMAMA. MAM. Then if I'm not coming, she says DAAAAD. DADAD. DAD! I AWAKE!
Yes kid, we can hear you, we know you are awake.
She is definitely getting fed enough, so shes not hungry, and she never asks for a drink so I don't think it's that either. I'm afraid..... she is napping to long.
And my life is over.
She naps at 1:30 everyday for about two hours. Sometimes two and a half. You other moms know it is like the magical time, especially during a difficult day or following a late night. You LIVE for the nap. Disclaimer, not that I don't love hanging out with her because I DO. But most other jobs get ten minute breaks every two hours, and an hour off for lunch and I'm just sayin everyone needs some time to themselves. KnowwhatImean?
Last night was the best. Lincoln woke up at 3 and I went out to the family room to nurse him... I noticed Izzie's hallway looked bright for some reason and I thought Jazz maybe had opened her door before he came to bed so I went to shut it so she wouldn't hear me. Nope, Isabelle was wide awake playing dolls and putting toys in a plastic bucket. Hadn't made noise, hadn't yelled for us, just wanted some play time. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. At least she was happy!
So.. is it her nap? Is it too long? Should I wake her up after an hour? She is kind of like waking a hibernating bear. She hates being woken up (like mama like baby) and then she is SUPER grumpy after that so it's not like its my favorite option. I know she is tired, probably from being up a good portion of the night so she falls asleep for her nap in approximately six minutes. She loves to nap. I love to nap. I love nap time. Any other ideas?
